Renewable energy
We are based in Tijarafe, in the northwest region of La Palma, where landscapes, agriculture, livestock and other products of the land and the sea are the main focus of life, from a cultural and economic perspective, but also ecological and healthy. Cervezas Isla Verde remains faithful to its commitment to the environment and its preservation, supporting the development of a respectful economic activity, which also contributes to the fight against climate change.
An example of this is the transformation that was implemented in 2017 in the energy model of our manufacturing process. The aim of the project has been to increase the company’s productivity and competitiveness through significant energy savings, while converting production to a sustainable model with 100% renewable sources, using photovoltaic panels, solar collectors and bio-diesel based on vegetable oils collected and recycled in La Palma. In addition, the supporting energy is supplied by an energy company that markets electricity from 100% renewable sources.
Specifically, this objective has been achieved through the following technological changes:
- Fuel savings in the production of hot water for mashing, cooking and cleaning processes by means of a solar collector system.
- Savings in electricity consumption from external sources, through a system of photovoltaic modules.
Another important achievement of the project is the very favourable environmental impact due to the elimination of fossil fuels, thus preventing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, it avoids more than 25,000 kg of CO2 emissions per year.
The project, with an approved investment of 27,012 euros, has been subsidised by the Regional Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Knowledge of the Canary Islands Government with 85% co-financing from the ERDF – Operational Programme 2014-2020 of the European Union.
We keep innovating with new beers!
In October 2018, we carried out a project to diversify and expand our brewing process in order to offer new innovative beers, which are planned to be launched on the market from 2019 onwards. The project will also further increase energy efficiency in the production of hot water in the brewing process. The main result will be an improvement in the profitability and competitiveness of the company.
The project, with an approved investment of 58,084 euros, has been subsidised by the Regional Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Knowledge of the Government of the Canary Islands with 85% co-financing from the European Union’s FEDER-Programme Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Beers
La Graja Apasionada
A very refreshing, fruit ale-like beer, which is striking for its orangey-pink colour, rather turbid in the glass and covered by a layer of delicate pinkish-white foam.
Isla Verde Coffee Stout
Cerveza Isla Verde and El Café de Don Manuel have joined forces to create a beer with coffee, named Coffee Stout, brewed with four malts and coffee of Colombian origin, roasted in La Palma.
Danza del Diablo
Natural black ale beer, brewed with four special quality malts, including caramel and chocolate malt. Brewed in August 2010, it is a tribute to Tijarafe and its popular festivities.
Indiana
A Belgian-style white wheat beer with an Indian soul, which finds its inspiration in this Palmeran festivity. Brewed with “barbilla”, a variety of wheat originally from the Canary Islands, possesses an intense aroma, with citrus notes of coriander seeds and orange peel. Its fruity and very refreshing taste will satisfy the most demanding palates.
Isla Verde
The traditional beer, but handcrafted. Brewed according to the Bohemian recipe, the nose is full of green notes of Saaz hop blossom, a noble variety, originally from the Czech Republic, famous for its excellent aromatic characteristics. Low fermentation, with a light body and balanced bitterness, fine bubbles and a smooth taste, it is the beer for nature lovers.
Julieta Rubia (Gluten-free)
Breaking with the usual trend of gluten-free beer and its restriction to almost a single style, comes this translucent Golden Ale, with a delicate aroma of hops and fruity, floral and herbaceous nuances. Crowned by an attractive white foam, Julieta is a new and different contribution by Cervezas Isla Verde to coeliac diets, with which they aim to surprise.
Julieta Negra (Gluten-free)
The first gluten-free natural dark ale beer in Spain, which follows a belgian dubbel style. Brewed with four special quality malts, it has a mild bitterness and a slightly roasted flavour, with hints of coffee, caramel and chocolate. In the glass it shows a dark, slightly turbid colour. Distinguished as the best Belgian ale, after winning the gold medal at the International Craft Beer Competition held in Madrid in 2017.
La Graja Piripi
La Graja Piripi is a Tripel Dark Ale with strong notes of caramel and chocolate, representing the freedom of the rook flying over the heights of La Palma. A beer to accompany meat or, simply, to drink with friends and a good chat.
Pícara
Attractive blonde beer with white foam and a certain turbidity, it stands out for its fruity flavour and a balance between a mild bitterness and the acidity of the wheat malt, which gives it freshness and a rich foam. Aroma of tropical and floral fruits.
La Graja IPA
La Graja IPA is a pale, foamy ale-style beer brewed with three aromatic American hops, following the recipe of the India Pale Ale (IPA) variety. A sharp, strong and sturdy beer characterised by bitterness, medium alcohol content and intense aromas of tropical and citrus fruits. Adapted to a “Canarian style”, La Graja IPA experiments with degrees of bitterness, challenging the consumer and his palate.
